Обзор

Public hospital care under SGK is effectively free for insured patients, with the government covering all hospitalization costs including surgery, medications during the stay, and post-operative care. Turkey has invested massively in hospital infrastructure, including the construction of 'city hospitals' (sehir hastaneleri) - mega hospital complexes with capacities of 1,000-4,000+ beds. These modern facilities offer advanced medical equipment and comprehensive services under one roof.

Private hospital costs without SGK coverage are significantly higher but still more affordable than Western countries. A private hospital stay costs approximately ₺3,000-10,000 per day, with common procedure costs including appendectomy at ₺15,000-30,000, hip replacement at ₺50,000-100,000, coronary bypass at ₺80,000-150,000, and normal childbirth at ₺10,000-25,000 (Cesarean at ₺15,000-35,000). With SGK coverage at private contracted hospitals, patients pay only the difference above SGK rates.

Turkey has approximately 3.0 hospital beds per 1,000 population, with the total number increasing through the city hospital programme. The average hospital stay is approximately 4.5 days. Emergency care is available at all public and private hospitals, with public emergency departments free for all, including uninsured individuals and foreigners in urgent situations. The 112 emergency line coordinates ambulance services nationwide.
