概述

Dental care in France underwent a major reform with the '100% Santé' programme, introduced in 2020, which created a basket of dental prosthetics (crowns, bridges, and dentures) that are fully reimbursed when combining Assurance Maladie and mutuelle coverage. This means patients pay nothing out of pocket for standard ceramic crowns on front teeth and metal crowns on back teeth within the 100% Santé basket.

Outside the fully reimbursed basket, patients can opt for premium materials and techniques at higher prices with capped fees. A standard crown in the 100% Santé basket is priced at €500, fully covered. A mid-range ceramic crown costs approximately €550–€700, with patients paying the difference. Premium all-ceramic crowns can cost €700–€1,000 with varying out-of-pocket costs depending on mutuelle coverage.

Dental implants remain poorly covered by the French system, as they are not included in the 100% Santé basket. A single dental implant typically costs €1,500–€2,500, with the Assurance Maladie covering only the crown portion at standard rates. Some high-end mutuelles offer partial implant coverage, but most patients bear the majority of implant costs themselves.
